SPRING

RUN OR WALK AN INTERESTING 5K

If you already like running, you get it. If not, find an interesting race you can walk.

It's a great way to feel comradery and get your exercise in!

(Some races even double as fundraisers.)

PLANT A GARDEN


Indoors or out, there's something quite magical

about watching the growth of a plant or flower.

FLY A KITE

Seriously, if you have not done so in a while, you'll remember why it used to be so fun.

SUMMER

WATCH A MOVIE OUTDOORS

Either cue up your laptop in the backyard, or scope out scheduled outdoor film showings.

GO SWIMMING 

If you're hitting up the beach, head toward the water! Bring floats, goggles, snorkel gear, boogie board, and other water toys you can use above and below the waves.

ATTEND A FESTIVAL

Whether you're into music, food, beer, or state fairs, there is usually 

at least one city hosting an event on the weekend. 

PICNIC AT THE BALLPARK

Most baseball parks allow you to bring food, so pack your favorites 

to accompany those peanuts and Cracker Jacks.

VISIT AN AMUSEMENT PARK

Bring out the kid in you by riding classic rides, from chill to thrill. 

WATCH THE SUNRISE OR SUNSET

If you're an early bird, bring coffee and breakfast goodies.

If you're a night owl, tea and dessert.

ENJOY AN OUTDOOR MOVIE

For a delightful alternative to an air conditioned theater, many cities

offer various movies in the park (or on closed-off streets) at low or no cost.

Remember to bring a chair and a cozy blanket.

AUTUMN

Fresh air and some mountain spice,

BIKING OR ROLLER BLADING


Get a dose of fresh air with some exercise. Perhaps even try commuting to work or school.

CHECK OUT A LOCAL BREWERY OR DISTILLERY

Besides sips and samples, sometimes you can sign up for special events

or tours to see these establishments behind-the-scenes. Cheers!

GO ON A HIKE

Find an interesting park nearby and take in the autumn colors. 

MAKE AND JAR HOMEMADE APPLESAUCE 

Make applesauce and can it. Keep some jars for yourself and save the others as gifts.

GO ICE SKATING


Find open skate times at an indoor area,

or search for the nearest outdoor ice skating trail in the woods.

MAKE HOT COCOA

Arrange ingredients for hot cocoa in a mason jar for quick and easy mixing.

(Set aside some pre-made jars to give away for the holidays.)

COMPLETE A PUZZLE

Find an interesting puzzle based on your interests (e.g. jigsaw, crossword, Sudoku).  

Even play with a friend or family member. 

READ A BOOK 

There are plenty of audiobooks available if you'd rather have your book read to you. 

PLAN A STAYCATION

Go ahead, book the hotel room with a hot tub. 

EMBRACE THE COLD

Instead of (or perhaps in addition to) escaping to warmer climates, enjoy unique winter activities: curling, ice fishing, sledding, igloo building.
